Winter is coming, so it’s time for my bike to go into hibernation. One might also argue that this blog has been in hibernation for the better part of a year, for which I’m sorry. Being a father to a 14 months old girl doesn’t leave much room for hobbies like this, but I luckily […]
Honda Dax
Carburetor replacement
Finally a bit of good weather, and a chance to test if the new head gasket fixed the leak. It worked as intended, and no more leaking, period. I also managed to source an original Keihin carburetor, so I could replace the China model. You might say that I’m a fanatic, but I do believe […]
New head gasket
Finally had the head gasket changed. Hopefully this will fix the previously mentioned oil leak. All that’s needed now is for the temperature to go up a few degrees, so I can take it out for a spin, and see if everything now runs smoothly.
New spark plug
The other day I wanted to start the bike, but nothing happened. There was fuel, compression was good, but I wasn’t even close to get it started. I checked the spark, and it did seem a bit weak. Removed the spark plug cap, and this is what I saw. It shouldn’t look like this, and […]
Obstacles on the road #2
Finally time for an update on the Honda Dax project. It’s like a never ending story for me, there seems to be no closure what so ever. Perhaps it’s a good thing, since closure would force me upon a new project, and I’m lacking a bit of space in the shed currently.I have however had […]
Obstacles on the road #1
Finally got the engine mounted and the bike up and running. Started easily, and sounded good, and the white smoke from before seemed to be gone, at least when it was idling. When it was running however, the story seemed to be another one. Then it would smoke a bit again, even though not as much […]
1 year later…
It has been a while since my last post, nearly 1 year. I promised to come back with an update, so here goes, and sorry for the wait. Kicked the engine over 50+ times before I managed to start it. Rode the bike for a rather short trip, but it was impossible to get it […]
RestoMod 100% complete
After quite a few years in the making, my little RestoMod is now complete. I bought the first parts roughly 15 years ago, and stored it in boxes for the next 12. First 3 years ago, I actually started working on it. As you can see, the time frame taken into consideration, I haven’t been […]
Replacing side emblems
Despite the fact that I haven’t even ridden the bike just once, I’ve just replaced the aluminum side emblems. While working on it in the shed, it was located on a table right in front of a big window, causing the emblems to fade quite a bit. Armed with goo remover, some dental floss and […]
Full throttle all the way
I showed you in a previous post how the throttle cable is connected to the carburetor. Nothing wrong with that guide, it’s still valid – but there is one minor detail though. I wasn’t able to move the throttle more than just a tiny bit with the spring installed, making me think that the cable was simply […]
